Description A very watchable film, pacey, well
acted and quite funny most of the time. At times nostalgia creeps
in, especially during the 'Whit Walks' scenes. But it does catapult
the viewer back to seventies Salford and makes you realise how much
more sophisticated we are these days!
The writer has tackled
several difficult subjects including arranged marriages, mixed race
marriages and immigration but succeeds in enlightening us by
disarming us with comedy. The film is easy to identify with and I
found myself empathising with the characters.
Compulsive
viewing, poignant but without preaching
